Safety

ACH Clifford believe that our people, be they employees or subcontractors are our most valuable asset. The health and safety of all those affected by our work is of the highest importance and will therefore be addressed and monitored at the highest level within our organisation. We know the Construction Industry is one of the most dangerous and we understand it is our duty to provide a safe & healthy work environment to all workers who may be affected by our business undertakings.

Resources appropriate to the level of risk will be made available to assist in the elimination or reduction of that risk.

To demonstrate our commitment to this policy, ACH Clifford will:

  • Have in place stringent planning processes for every project to ensure site specific safe systems of work, especially in relation to High Risk Construction Work.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and statutory requirements, and advisory standards;
  • Provide premises, plant and equipment together with systems of work that are safe;
  • Ensure the work health and safety of all people at work by providing a suitable environment, and the information, instruction, training and supervision required;
  • Support and encouraging employees with management responsibilities at a worksite to enforce site safety rules at all times
  • Provide adequate first aid, emergency procedures and access to appropriately trained personnel;
  • Encourage consultation and participation within the company to promote and maintain safe and healthy conditions and to speak out when witnessing unsafe act;
  • Investigate reported hazards promptly;
  • Investigate promptly any accident, incident or near miss and undertake corrective actions as soon as possible;
  • Monitor compliance with the Management System.;
  • Monitor our WHS performance through the establishment of Objectives and Targets at a corporate level for the organisation as a whole and at a project level when applicable; and
  • Develop and continually improve our management system.

Work health and safety is the responsibility of all management, staff and contractors. Specific WHS responsibilities for each function and level of the organization are outlined in our management system manual, procedures and plans.

Because of the hazardous nature of the construction industry, management at all levels has the prime responsibility of ensuring that every activity is performed in a safe manner and within a safe environment.  Every member of management is required to continually consider the safety of all personnel under their control and to enforce safe procedures, site safety rules and a robust health and safety culture, especially in relation to High Risk Construction Work.

Our philosophy is that all work-related illness and injury can be prevented. Appropriate consideration must be given to determining a safe and healthy work method for each and every activity. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
